Serving the Knox community since 1997, Orana Neighbourhood House is a non-profit community organisation managed by an elected Committee of Management. Orana offers a range of programs including adult education classes, hobby & leisure courses, exercise classes, social and self-development groups for people living in our community. Our program offers opportunities for enjoyment, learning and to develop new interests and skills.

THE ROLE

This is an permanent part time position 30 hours per week (days negotiable).

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Neighbourhood House & Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2016. Level 9 (As negotiated).

The Orana Neighbourhood House Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and financial supervision of Orana Neighbourhood House and to oversee the development and delivery programs and activities that meet the educational, vocational and recreational needs of the local community.

The position will develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally with the Committee of Management, staff, tutors and volunteers and also within the broader community. This will include representing Orana Neighbourhood House within the service sector, working cooperatively with Local, State & Federal Government departments and active participation in relevant networks.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in the community sector, preferably in a Neighbourhood House and/or community and further education provider.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management and providing strategic leadership.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation skills, reporting and grant application writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound financial management within a community organisation.
  • The ability to represent and advocate for the organisation and the community in a highly professional manner.
  • The ability to identify community needs and to plan, develop, monitor, and evaluate high-quality programs to meet those needs.
