Motivated by the parable of the Good Samaritan, Opportunity International Australia seeks to alleviate poverty in developing countries – one family and one community at a time.
We believe that ending poverty is the single most significant thing we can accomplish in our lifetime. There are currently two billion families around the world living in poverty, surviving on less than a few dollars a day and lacking access to essential services like healthcare and education and living in communities susceptible to domestic violence and people human trafficking.
By providing small loans to families in need, Opportunity helps them grow their own businesses and generate sustainable incomes so they can lift themselves out of poverty with dignity. To break the cycle of poverty for good, Opportunity also increases families’ access to healthcare and quality education, while strengthening communities to reduce the risk of human trafficking and domestic violence – creating a new future for generations to come.
Opportunity International Australia is part of the global Opportunity Network – a leading provider and pioneer of microfinance, providing a hand up out of poverty to millions of families in more than 22 countries around the world.
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for managing a range of functions including accounts payable, expense management, staff salary packaging, cashflow analysis and monthly management reporting.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your expertise and experience to engage with an international organisation and assist with the consolidation of the Opportunity group. You will also assist the fundraising and programs teams with ad hoc reporting and submissions.
This role is suited to someone with attention to detail and a focus on results. The ability to recommend new and innovative processes and increase efficiencies within the organisation will also be considered highly.
The Corporate Services team plays a critical role within the organisation and works closely with other teams both locally and internationally. Excellent people-skills, a desire for collaboration and communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must.
Your confident, proactive, and professional approach, coupled with the ability to work in alignment with the values of the Christian ethos that motivates Opportunity, will be key to your success.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a National Police Check and adhere to our Child Protection Policy. Opportunity is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace that values people’s differences and provides opportunities/provisions for all staff to achieve their full potential. We encourage people with disabilities and people from other diverse backgrounds to apply.
