about the role

As a member of the Project’s Management team, the Technical Lead and Release Manager is responsible for the technical aspects of the CSE project execution phase, including managing release activities for of the Resolve application, databases, and software products including external dependent systems, in a complex environment.

This involves working closely with business teams, external parties, project resources and IT support to oversee the successful delivery of the product.

key responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical components of the execution phase, implementing strategies to overcome obstacles, and provide leadership to staff and contractors to achieve organisational goals within set timeframes.
  • Develop and refine an overarching release strategy and manage deployment plans and activities to facilitate high-quality release management processes based on the department’s Information Technology Infrastructure Library standards.
  • Facilitate meetings/workshops with the project team, business representatives, partner organisation and IT support staff to progress technical components as well as produce and review release schedules and deployment requirements relating to the CSE Project.
  • Effectively communicate and build strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, aiming for the successful release of supported products. Produce product specific guides, work instructions and technical documents.
  • Lead engagement with external stakeholders to ensure coordination of interface activities across dependent systems.
  • Identify and document risks and issues associated the release and deployment activities and employ best practices within the ITIL framework to address identified risks.

Although not mandatory, qualifications in Project Management and/or experience as a Release Manager within ICT projects for software releases, preferably with an Agile development framework, and/or a relevant qualification would be favourably regarded.

Experience in using and managing DevOps boards and with Microsoft Dynamics, SQL Server, or Resolve is also desirable.

This role will require some out of hours and weekend work to manage the successful delivery of system releases.
