Founded in 2012, Open Food Network is a not-for-profit organisation focused on building a new food system that is fair, local, and transparent. Our flagship project is an open source software platform that makes it easy for farmers, producers, farmers markets, and other values-aligned enterprises to sell their products online. We also run place-based projects that seek to strengthen local food systems.

Working closely with producers and food hubs in short supply chains for over 10 years we have identified significant opportunities for collaboration on logistics. In this project, Open Food Network is coordinating a network of food social enterprises across Victoria to launch a new collaborative logistics solution that moves food through regional loops and into Melbourne based food hubs. We are calling this Open Road.

This role will be responsible for overseeing the launch of Open Road, including the development of project plans and budgets, management of operations and staff, and development and assessment of the business model to determine ongoing viability. This will require a solid knowledge of logistics operations, business and regional food systems, as well as strong project, partnership and asset management, technology integration and people skills. You need to be enthusiastic, focused and up for a challenge. This full-time role is fully funded for 6 months, with the possibility of extending this for another 6 months.

It is a flexible and remote position, working from anywhere in Victoria. Ideally you have your own computer, phone, a good solid internet connection and access to a car to enable face to face catch ups where possible. If not, still apply - if you’re the best candidate we’ll help you get set up.
