If so, you could be part of our small team and make a difference to aged care. You will provide the clinical, educational knowledge and expertise to develop content for our national education, focused on advocacy and ageing as well as elder abuse and diversity. In addition, you will be required to present some education programs on an as-required basis.

We are currently reviewing online education options. You will participate in this process and take a leading role in the development of these online courses. 

This is a full-time position, and you will report to the Business Operations and Strategic Projects Manager. 

OPAN

The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) is the national body of a network comprised of nine state and territory organisations that deliver advocacy, information and education services throughout Australia. OPAN is independent of government and from aged care providers.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Knowledge of the rights of older people
  • A self-starter, who takes the initiative to get things done
  • You will have attention to detail, even whilst working fast and under pressure
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the aged care sector
  • Experience delivering contemporary and engaging adult education
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills 

Location

Our offices are based in Surry Hills. However, it is possible for this role to work remotely. Some travel may be expected for face-to-face training or recording of education sessions. 

Salary: $100-$110K 

Goals for the role 

  • Develop education to support contemporary models of adult learning including (but not limited to) the following areas: (target audience include older people, their families & representatives) secondary aged care providers and their workforces to ensure that the older persons rights are understood
  • NACAP (National Aged Care Advocacy Program)
  • Navigation of My Aged Care
  • Ageing and Aged Care Advocacy
  • Rights of Older People
  • Elder Abuse and diversity

Education & promotion 

  • Develop lessons and content plans for digital provision of education at the national level
  • Co-ordinate the development of an online education portal
  • Consult with aged care, health and other relevant and stakeholders to enable evidence-based content for education 
  • Work collaboratively to coordinate education activity logistics, development of supporting materials and briefing of production team, participants, panelists and facilitators 
  • Facilitate educational events via online, digital and face-to-face forums 
  • Assist with logistics, planning and promotion of OPAN education, information and related events (online and face-to-face forums) 
  • Conduct national information and education sessions
  • Measure learning outcomes
  • Delivery of education programs on an as-required basis

Provision of Information and information products 

  • As a subject matter expert, in consultation with OPAN management:
  • Promote and contribute to a partnership approach to information provision in consultation with other agencies including consumer organisations, government departments and industry peak bodies 
  • Produce fact sheets providing consumers with information in identified areas of need   
  • Contribute articles and content for OPAN website   
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of other OPAN publications.  
  • Write articles for relevant publications directly related to aged care information 
  • Establish and maintain networks to further promote the objects of OPAN  
  • Support implementation of processes for appropriate review and editing of all public facing collateral. 

Policy & Project Management 

  • Contribute to identification and monitoring of systemic issues arising for consumers of aged care services and retirement villages  
  • Share expertise developed as a result of the advocacy process with government and other agencies through for example, participating in committees and preparing written reports and submissions   
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning, management and deliverables for interagency OPAN projects
