About One Ball

One Ball is a not for profit community soccer and wellbeing program designed for children and young people aged between (5 - 18 years of age). Based in the City of Port Phillip, our mission is to provide equal opportunities to all children and young people especially those from CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) backgrounds across Melbourne to play soccer and develop a positive attitude to a healthy lifestyle in a safe and fun social setting.

One Ball facilitates the Empowering Lives Through Football project throughout the metropolitan Melbourne region, and is a proud partner of Football Victoria.

We are looking for a committed individual who is passionate about making a positive impact through sport and working with children/young people to join our team. Hours are mostly Sunday afternoons between 4pm-6.30pm, with the possibility of various days and locations depending on the applicant’s availability.

The position

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced or beginner coaches to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in running our soccer programs. This position is perfect for someone with a sporting background and experience working with children/young people. The role will be responsible for: 

  • Following our session plans and running weekly programs alongside other coaches for our groups of 5-7 year olds or 8-18 year olds.
  • Assisting with setting up and packing down equipment before and after sessions.
  • Being a mentor-like figure that children and young people look up to

What you need

  • A passion for working with children/youth
  • Commitment and availability to coach on a fixed, weekly schedule
  • Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to travel around Melbourne Metro
  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Willing to obtain First Aid Certificate
  • Sports coaching qualification and experience desirable but not essential
