Odyssey House Victoria (OHV) is a place of hope and positive change for individuals working towards breaking their pattern of addiction. The Therapeutic Community (TC) is a long-term residential program. The TC is a 143-bed treatment facility that works with clients to establish healthier relationships, promote personal change, and support them in their recovery journey.

About the TC Children’s Centre

The Children’s Centre provides an on-site support service for families/parents who are engaged in rehabilitation at the TC, open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. The Children’s Centre is pivotal in catering to the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children who reside at the TC throughout the duration of their parents’ treatment programs. A vibrant and unique play-based learning environment for children aged 0-5 years is provided as well as after school and school holiday programs for children aged 6-11 years.

The position

The position is offered as a fixed term contract to June 30th, 2023, with possibility of extension if funding allows. The role is based at the Therapeutic Community in Lower Plenty. The Therapeutic Community is a 143-bed residential treatment facility based on the philosophy that the community itself is the primary agent of change and support for each individual’s recovery journey. The key purpose of the position is to foster a secure and nurturing environment for children, promoting and maximising opportunities for them to develop to their full potential.

A day in the life of this position includes: providing childcare services, developing and evaluating daily care routines to meet the social, emotional and developmental needs of individual children, recording observations and assisting parents in managing their children’s behaviour.
