Residential Support Worker - Parent's And Children's Program

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative professional to join our dedicated team at the Odyssey House NSW Parent’s and Childrens Program on a part time basis.

The Odyssey House NSW Parent's and Children’s Program is an established and growing service supporting single parents and couples with accompanying children in the Therapeutic Community of our Residential Rehabilitation.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the Parent’s and Children’s Program (PCP)
  • Supporting the Model of Care of the PCP and of the main Residential Treatment Program including supporting clients and their dependent children in meeting their treatment and parenting objectives as well as child welfare plans
  • Provide direct support to families including supervision of children as required
  • Maintain accurate data and contribute to client records and notes in a professional manner
  • This position will work to a 24/7 rotating roster

Essential Selection Criteria

  • VET Certificate or Diploma in relevant area or in process of obtaining
  • Demonstrated ability to show individual initiative within a team context and within established policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in difficult situations, managing distressed vulnerable clients protecting safety and risk
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and time manage
  • Hold a current NSW Driver's Licence
  • Have the ability to provide a current Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance
  • Unlimited right to live and work in Australia

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Experience within a residential AOD program, particularly within the Therapeutic Community model
  • Experience supporting clients in a non-AOD residential setting (for example hostel or refuge, group home)
  • Experience working to support children and/or parents and families, especially those with complex support needs
  • Experience working with clients with mental health concerns or other similar support needs
  • Experience in provision of group facilitation
  • Experience in the provision of one-to-one support and/or case management for clients with AOD, Mental Health or other support needs
