Chief Executive Officer

Oaktree

As a youth run not-for-profit, Oaktree consists of passionate individuals who are eager to create a more just world. As with any other organisation, structures and systems need to be in place in the background to enable these impact activities. Without this foundation, Oaktree’s impact won’t be as effective or efficient.

As Oaktree’s CEO, you will lead and inspire a compelling vision and see it come true. You will work alongside political, industry and public leaders; corporate sponsors; and international development partners. You will build culture, inspire teams to pull off the ‘impossible’, and have fun while doing it. You will make hard decisions. You will build lifelong friends. You will learn more than you imagine, with the support of the Oaktree Board and mentorship from leading experts in the sector. Best of all, you will play a part in leading, demanding and creating a more just world.

As the CEO you will:

  • Lead the vision and drive the strategy. You’ll work with Oaktree’s Board and Executive to define our vision, mission and strategic plan, and lead our staff and volunteers to make it a reality. You will champion young people in leading, demanding and creating a more just world.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team. You will lead the organisation, directly managing the Executive team to realise our strategic plan. You’ll help recruit and motivate an organisation of passionate volunteers to set clear plans and work together to drive organisational success.
  • Run an effective, innovative and sustainable organisation. You will manage the organisation’s resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring the organisation is financially strong and sustainable. You’ll secure funding and establish diverse and reliable income streams, innovating to take Oaktree to the next level.
  • Build our brand and supporter base. You’ll be Oaktree’s public face, building our profile through public events, media engagement, and networking. And you’ll build strong relationships with key supporters and stakeholders, including donors, schools, universities, government, sector leaders and more.

What you will get out of it:

  • Have an enormous and tangible impact on fighting poverty and changing thousands of lives
  • Be at the forefront of social change, playing both a thought and public leadership role
  • Accelerate your personal and professional development, with access to a range of highly qualified mentors in a supportive and challenging environment
  • Experience the camaraderie of working in a close-knit, fun and high-performing Executive team
  • Spend every day working with some of the brightest, most passionate young people in Australia
  • Have the opportunity to travel overseas, work with our incredible overseas partners and see the direct impact of our contributions as an organisation
  • Experience reporting to, and working with our Board as an Executive Director

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 0.8 FTE
  • Minimum 2 years
  • Salaried role - 5.1-6.1 SCHADS
