NTSCORP Limited (‘NTSCORP’) receives federal government funding to perform the functions of a Native Title Representative Body under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) in NSW and the ACT. NTSCORP is responsible for representing the interests of Aboriginal People who hold or may hold Native Title. NTSCORP’s functions include: facilitation and assistance, dispute resolution, notification, certification and agreement making.

NTSCORP is a public company limited by guarantee with a majority Aboriginal Board and an Aboriginal CEO. NTSCORP is a community legal service which aims to deliver a high level of services to Aboriginal groups engaged in native title litigation and related processes, including future act negotiations and support to prescribed bodies corporate. NTSCORP’s vision is to achieve social justice and economic, cultural and social independence in Aboriginal communities through assisting Traditional Owners of lands, waters and seas. 

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a full time Solicitor to join NTSCORP. NTSCORP offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a dynamic environment, with flexible conditions and generous leave provisions. NTSCORP is a public benevolent institution which can offer a fringe benefit tax arrangement. The position is based in Redfern, NSW.

Applicant’s requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in law;
  • Restricted or Unrestricted Practising Certificate;
  • Minimum 1-2 years post admission experience;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Capacity to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment;
  • Budgeting and decision making skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment and initiative;
  • Knowledge of and genuine interest in native title;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal societies and culture;
  • Capacity to liaise and work with Aboriginal communities;
  • Computer skills; and
  • Drivers licence and willingness to travel.
