about the role

The Bar Association is seeking a high performing Project and Administrative Assistant to join our Professional Standards and Support team.

The Project and Administrative Assistant provides high level support to the Association to ensure the successful delivery of the Association’s educational programs, which include the Bar Exams, Bar Practice Course (BPC – training program for new barristers) and Reading Program (initial 12 month training period), and Continuing Professional Development Seminars (CPDs); and design ongoing service delivery improvements. The role also undertakes the successful collection and analysis of data to meet the Association’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities include

  • Providing administrative support for all functions of the team, in particular the Bar Exams, the Reading Program, and the Bar Practice Course
  • Collection and analysis of data to support ongoing service delivery improvements
  • Uploading content to the Bar Association’s website and social media platforms
  • Attending to other general administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining electronic files on Content Manager and other internal systems.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review, development, and implementation of changes to improve the productivity and efficiency of the team.
  • Assisting with organising Continuing Professional Development events, functions and open days.
  • Responding to questions and requests from committee chairs and members.
  • Other duties as required by the Executive Director and the Director, Professional Standards and Support.

Work outside core standard hours will be necessary on occasion.

about you

The successful applicant will have the following essential skills and aptitudes:

  • Demonstrated experience in a project management or administrative role
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks with tight timeframes
  • Excellent IT literacy in standard office software packages, particularly with Excel
  • Excellent skills in cloud-based video conferencing including Zoom and Teams.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks and maintain an ordered working environment.
  • Ability to cope calmly and effectively with conflicting demands and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to use initiative and maintain a professional work ethic.
  • Proven ability to work in a small team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Have an ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the New South Wales Bar.

The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $65,000, plus super, depending on experience and may be negotiable with an outstanding candidate.

We work in a CBD location with hybrid work conditions (office/work from home).
