If you would like to work for a highly recognised organisation in the human services industry with a supportive team of professional women, we are seeking your application. The purpose of this role is to provide face-to-face counselling and support for social health issues and to organise and facilitate appropriate group activities including community education, advocacy and activism events covering the priority health areas. This role can be full time or part time and is contract until 31 December 2023.
North Queensland Combined Women's Services Inc. also known as The Women's Centre, comprises a Sexual Assault Support Service, a Specialist Homelessness Service and a Women’s Health Service that provides counselling, group therapy, support and information, for women experiencing emotional and psychological distress and trauma. The Sexual Assault Support Service is also an integral part of the Townsville’s Sexual Assault Response Team, a collaboration with other services to provide a holistic wrap-around service to victims of sexual assault on a 24 hour basis.
Suitable applicants require social science, psychology, or social work tertiary level qualifications. Skills and experience in the areas of sexual assault and domestic and family violence, counselling, mental health and advocacy is desirable. It is a requirement of this position to participate in our 24 hour on-call roster as a part of a Sexual Assault Response Team.
It is a genuine occupational requirement of this position that it be filled by a woman as permitted by, and arguable under Sections 25, 104 and 105 of The Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse women are encouraged to apply.
