About the Role

The Campaign Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing NQCC’s campaigns, preparing submissions, undertaking advocacy on behalf of the environment with government and other decision-makers, and representing the organisation in the media on campaign matters.

The Campaign Manager will share administration tasks with the Community Campaigner.

The Campaign Manager’s position is 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week), with a 12 month contract (3 month probation period).

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement strategic and effective environmental campaigns on issues identified by the Management Committee;
  • Continue to strengthen NQCC’s role and reputation as an active player in relation to regional environmental issues;
  • Liaise with decision-makers and colleagues to attain environmental goals through government policy and relevant state and national campaigns;
  • Be the prime spokesperson for the organisation on campaigns;
  • Maintain an inspiring and active social media campaign (in association with the Community Campaigner);
  • General office administration (shared with the Community Campaigner);
  • Other duties as requested by the Management Committee.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Experience in working in an environmental organisation;
  2. Demonstrated ability to design and implement creative and effective environmental campaigns and to collaborate with others to deliver joint campaigns;
  3. Good knowledge of, or ability to quickly master, regional conservation issues;
  4. Good negotiation and presentation skills;
  5. High level spoken and written communication skills – including the ability to prepare quality media releases and undertake quality media interviews around campaigns;
  6. Good level of IT literacy;
  7. Ability to work efficiently, effectively and accurately with a high degree of autonomy and accountability;
  8. A positive attitude with the ability to identify problems and suggest effective solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience in Administration and Office Management;
  • Knowledge of Townsville region and its environmental issues
  • Car and driver’s license;
  • Tertiary environmental qualifications.

Additional requirements

Must be prepared to travel to attend meetings and conferences (travel and accommodation costs reimbursed). Must be prepared to work on weekends and after hours on occasion as required.

Remuneration

According to qualifications and experience (within the range $926-$993 for a 30.4 hour week) in accordance with the Social and Community Services Award.
