Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – Walytja. Our purpose is to work side by side with women, children and their families of the NPY region in central Australia to help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Child and Family Wellbeing Service works alongside families living in the NPY region in three key areas: Child Advocacy, Intensive Family Support and Child Nutrition. We are now recruiting for a Team Leader to join us as an integral part of the team. You will provide support and guidance to a number of case managers as well as assisting the day to day delivery of child advocacy and outreach services.

You will have experience supervising and leading a team of dedicated staff and have qualifications in social work or another relevant human service related field. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with remote communities and have a desire to work in the Central Desert region.

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed framework and have the opportunity to learn community development and intercultural liaison from highly skilled, experienced professionals. We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma and case management training along with critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, additional superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 6 weeks of annual leave, 3 weeks of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
