Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Tjungu (together) team provides support, advocacy and case management to ngaltutjara tjuta – people with disabilities, elderly people, and their carers & families.

Tjungu was chosen as the title for the program to reflect the fact that aged, disability and mental health issues often overlap ad require workers and families to meet these challenges together.

Tjungu philosophy and principles support the rights of older Anangu people and people with disabilities to live in their community so that family and relationships can be maintained and spiritual and physical connections with country are continued.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Officer works in a malparara partnership with an Anangu Project Officer and together they are responsible for the coordination and development of the NDIS Appeals & Disability Royal Commission Advocacy Project. The Projects aim to provide support and representation to people with disabilities through:

  • Providing culturally appropriate advocacy and support services to individuals and groups.
  • Identifying broader issues from casework and raising these with relevant service providers and Government Departments.

This is a unique chance to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will live, work and build lasting relationships with local communities and get to experience an amazing landscape and part of the world. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about yourself, another culture and grow professionally at the same time.

You will work within a supportive, trauma-informed framework and we provide a comprehensive culturally aware orientation program. You will receive best practice clinical supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days (pro-rata) of annual leave and 15 days (pro-rata) of personal leave.
