Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

We are now recruiting for a Child Nutrition Development Officer in the Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS). This position is based in Alice Springs with frequent travel to provide nutrition services to communities in the NPY Lands. You will work collaboratively within the Child Nutrition Program to support families with children aged 0-5 years, especially those experiencing growth faltering.

As a Child Nutrition Development Officer you will work across a wide range of tasks including:

  • Complex Case Management
  • Community Education
  • Capacity building and collaboration across community services
  • Working with stores around nutrition health initiatives

You will have a background and qualifications in Nutrition, Community Development or Health Science and have experience in managing a complex caseload. Experience working with remote Indigenous communities or vulnerable minority groups will be highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, resilient and passionate about working alongside Anangu. In addition, the right person will be comfortable living in a remote environment and is able to be flexible in a changing environment.

This is a unique chance to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will live, work and build lasting relationships within a local community and get to experience an amazing landscape and part of the world. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about yourself, another culture and grow professionally at the same time.

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed framework and we provide a comprehensive orientation program. You will receive best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide NPYWC accommodation and use of a company vehicle when travelling.
