Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council is a leading community service organisation that provides a range of programs to women and their families. Our work spans across 350,000 square kilometres in the cross border region of Central Australia, and is critical to building and maintaining a better future for all Anangu communities within the region.
NPY Women’s Council is now recruiting for a Child Advocacy Officer to assist members and staff negotiate Child Protection systems across the tristate area of SA, NT and WA. Sitting in the Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS), the position works primarily with families where children have been removed through child protection interventions, advocating for families in regards to:
This position takes a rights based approach and commits to the Aboriginal Child Placement Principle, that children are best placed within family, community and culture.
As someone who has experience in advocacy, community development or case management, you will have the ability to acquire an understanding of child protection systems. You have a commitment to using a rights based approach in your work, and your knowledge and experience gives you confidence in advocating for others.
Ideally, you will have tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Law, Community Development or Public Health, and are passionate about working alongside Anangu.

You will receive a comprehensive orientation program as well as best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident debriefing and a range of counselling services to support you.
