Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

The Walytjapiti (caring for family together) Program’s vision is for Anangu families to remain healthy and positive about the future. To live in strong and independent communities where there is increased socioeconomic equality, children are in school and adults are meaningfully engaged. These are communities where people are proud of their cultural identity, celebrate its rich and dynamic nature and raise happy, healthy children.

Walytjapiti means full family, group or gathering of relations. Strength, culture and land are also implicit in the word. The Walytjapiti team deliver trauma informed therapeutic case management with families across eight remote communities in the Northern Territory and APY lands.

Based in Umuwa and servicing the Pukatja community, we are now recruiting for an Intensive Family Support Case Manager to become part of the Walytjapiti team. If successful, you will work with families and children who are at risk of child protection intervention, working to support and strengthen families in order for children to remain safe, happy and protected in their families and communities.

You will have a background in Social Work, Early Childhood or Community Development and have experience in managing a caseload. Working with trauma informed frameworks or the ability to adopt those practices would be desirable.

You will receive a comprehensive orientation program as well as best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident debriefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this, we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 30 days of annual leave, 7 days of additional leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide NPYWC accommodation and use of a company vehicle whilst travelling.
