About No to Violence

No to Violence works to bring about the changes our community needs to eliminate men’s use of family violence. For 25 years, we have been working directly with men who use family violence to support them to change. Our expertise in their behaviour, attitudes and choices has enabled us to develop standards, programs and training, and lead policy development. At the centre of our work is the safety of partners, women and children, as by ending men’s violence families can have happier, safer and more fulfilled lives.

About the role

Working collaboratively across the organisation, the Policy Officer plays a key role in supporting the Manager Policy and Research to initiate high quality research and analysis and to assist with preparing NTV policy submissions & initiatives, focusing on perpetrator accountability and prevention of family violence.

Working as a member of the Policy and Research Team, they will provide expert advice and guidance on policy matters relating to preventing perpetrators use of domestic violence. The Policy Officer will also support the Manager Policy and Research, in collaboration with the Membership Manager and Sector Development Manager, to engage NTV members and other stakeholders.

We have 2 positions to fill:

  • 2 year contract
  • 6-7 month contract - Secondment arrangements for applicants that work in other organisations across the sector, including government and community sector, will be considered for this contract.

About you

To succeed in this role you will have;

  • Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Public Health policy, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Professionally and academically informed knowledge of the contemporary arrangements which govern the reform agenda in relation to preventing family violence.
  • Proven abilities in writing high quality reports/other documents on family violence or related social policy.
  • Basic project management capabilities and demonstrated capacity to deliver quality work deliverables within defined timelines and to work both independently and as part of a small team of policy and policy research professionals
  • Ability to critically evaluate evidence-based information and research findings relating to family violence and to incorporate this in the development of policies and briefing papers.
  • Well-developed networking and stakeholder engagement skills underpinned by a proven ability to develop clear and considered advocacy strategies.
