No to Violence is Australia’s largest peak body for services and individuals that work with men who use family violence. No to Violence operates the national Men’s Referral Service, a national Brief Intervention Service, a Victorian based Perpetrator Accommodation Support Service, as well as free, confidential counselling, referral and support services. Key role responsibilities

We are looking for a tertiary qualified passionate individual to join our Policy and Research team to support our nationally expanding advocacy work in the Family Violence space. This role will help shape a national research agenda and stakeholder engagement strategy for NTV as well as contribute to the development of outcomes and monitoring frameworks.

The successful applicant will have experience in designing research tools and have solid quantitative research and evaluation skills. Strong policy writing skills are also essential to support development of policies, briefing papers, reports and submissions.

Experience working in the Family Violence sector is preferable, however applicants with experience in the community sector, government or social services will also be considered.

This Policy and Research Officer will work both autonomously and as part of the Advocacy team to provide expert advice and guidance on research and policy matters relating to preventing perpetrators use of domestic violence.

The role will also contribute to the development of the NTV 2022 Conference.

While our offices are Melbourne CBD based, there is flexibility to work remotely in this role, attending face to face meetings as required.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Public Health policy, or other relevant disciplines.

  • Strong qualitative research skills essential; quantitative research skills will be highly regarded

  • Professionally and academically informed knowledge of the contemporary arrangements governing the reform agenda in relation to preventing family violence.

  • Demonstrable experience in designing research tools I.e. surveys, focus group discussion guides etc

  • Ability to critically evaluate evidence-based information and research findings relating to family violence and to incorporate this in the development of policies and briefing papers.

  • Proven abilities in writing high quality reports/other documents, preferably on family violence or related social policy.

  • Basic project management capabilities and demonstrated capacity to deliver quality work deliverables within defined timelines and to work both independently and as part of a small team of policy and policy research professionals
