Key role responsibilities

The Housing & Advocacy Case Manager is responsible for assisting male clients who are engaged with the Men’s Accommodation and Counselling Service (MACS) (formerly PASS) operating as part of the Mens Referral Service (MRS).

  • Primary focus on generating and maintaining housing / entry point access opportunities for MACS clients with complex issues.
  • Provide information, advocacy and support to clients who require accommodation support and access to HEP and other housing services.
  • Focus on men’s accommodation with follow up referrals for complex issues such as mental health, AOD, income and financial issues
  • Establish referral pathways and links to community supports, including but not limited to financial counselling services, gambling support services, AOD, mental health services, employment supports, multicultural services, first nations services and LGBTIQ+ inclusive services.
  • Co-design individually tailored support and housing support plans to enable clients to successfully transition into private and supported rental tenancy.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A social work degree or qualification in a related field, or relevant experience.
  • Specialist knowledge and skills and prior experience providing male family violence services, including intake and risk assessment, is considered desirable.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the social and gendered context of family violence and the impact of violence on women and children.
  • A demonstrated understanding or experience of housing services and housing advocacy support.
  • Understanding of legislation, risk management and reforms pertaining to the family violence sector.
  • Experience in the delivery of counselling and /or case management services either face to face or over the telephone.
