Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne is seeking a suitably qualified individual to join our Disability Inclusion for Health and Development Unit (DIHD) team.

We are seeking early career professionals for an entry level Technical Advisor position who can work both independently and as part of a team.

This opportunity can be part-time at 4 days per week, or full-time on a 12-month fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in, and passion for the contribution you can make to, disability inclusion and the sector, whether that be through prior professional experience (including in allied health) or disability-related studies.

The role provides support to the delivery of DIHD projects. For 2021, the DIHD portfolio will include the following applied research and advisories in Australia, Asia and the Pacific:

  • Costs of raising children with disability
  • Remote education and learning for children with disability (COVID)
  • Disability data and measurement, including in humanitarian response
  • Early childhood identification and development
  • Elimination of violence against women and girls with disabilities
  • Rehabilitation services and health systems strengthening
  • Technical advisories to DFAT on disability inclusion with CBM Australia

The role will include the following project support duties:

  • Support, under supervision, to data collection, including qualitative interviews
  • Support, with guidance, to data analysis, including transcription and coding of qualitative data and non-complex statistical analysis of quantitiave data
  • Support to literature reviews of academic and grey literature, including working independently on scoping reviews.

The role also provides support for the delivery of project related trainings, capacity building activities and short course on Disability in Global Development, including:

  • Logistical support, including accessibility considerations and scheduling
  • Timetabling and material preparation under supervision

The role supports DIHD’s business development activities by:

  • Assisting in identifying, developing and delivering project proposals and business development ideas.
  • Contributing to DIHD meetings and across Institute workshops and collaborations.
