North West Youth Accommodation Service (NWYAS) is a small not-for-profit community organisation supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through referral, information, support and case-management. We support young people to break the homelessness cycle for good, developing their skills and capacity towards independence and autonomy.

Services are delivered as a part of an energetic and supported team with the office located in Mitchelton, Brisbane. NWYAS has been specialising in providing a quality response to youth homelessness for more than 30 years.

We are looking for Board Members (Volunteer), particularly people with an interest (or capacity to rapidly upskill) to become our Treasurer.

We are looking for people who:

  • Align with the values, purpose and vision of NWYAS
  • Have the capacity to attend and participate in Board Meetings in Mitchelton Brisbane every six weeks
  • Value small, not-for-profit community services that deliver relevant, place-based services to some of the most vulnerable young people in our community
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Have a focus on self and professional development
  • Have a background in financial management

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have some experience working on Management Committees or Boards
  • Have experience and or interest in the community sector
  • Experience in strategic planning and governance

Required for this position:

  • Working with children check (Blue Card)
