About the opportunity

The Northern Land Council is in a period of transition, and is strategically looking forward to ensure we deliver on our obligations and support our seven regions. As part of our growth and regionalisation we are ensuring we lead from the front and continue to develop and maintain strong foundations, focused on good governance, clear strategy and being a strong voice for our constituents. In order to achieve this, the NLC is looking for a suitably experienced and passionate Regional Manager for the West Arnhem area to join our diverse and engaged Regional Development team.

This regionally based position will be responsible for leading the West Arnhem team and, coordinating and monitoring the region’s operational service outcomes and performance in accordance with operational plans and other business requirements. The Regional Manager West Arnhem will also manage and facilitate the effective implementation and operational support of NLC projects and programs within the within the West Arnhem Region, and will act as a key driver for our regionalisation goals.

About you

You have a background in managing regional development teams with strong organisational, community and business management background that aligns with the NLC purpose and function. You are passionate about our communities and align with our Traditional Owner (TO) centric model. Your excellent communication skills and collaborative approach will see you establish and maintain outstanding working relationships and trust with key stakeholders.

What you will need

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ operational management experience with demonstrated experience in remote / regional service delivery.
  • Understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act 1976 and other legislation relevant to the land interests of Traditional Owners (TO) and Aboriginal communities, as managed by the NLC.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management (including budgets, procurement practices, variance reporting, funding reporting.
  • High level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an array of stakeholders (internal, Traditional Owners (TO) and external organisations) to build productive working relationships.

This position works closely with the broader Regional Development team and the regional office network team. It offers the opportunity to reside in Jabiru in our employer provided housing and gives you a unique opportunity to work closely with and support our Aboriginal communities in West Arnhem.

  • Based in Jabiru, with regular regional travel this position has an annual salary of $140,000 plus 14.5% superannuation and salary sacrificing.
  • Local housing is available for this position.
