Role and Responsibilities

You will be working closely with our participants, other service providers, stakeholders, senior managers and support workers to ensure effective and timely supports are provided to meet client needs in line with their NDIS packages and No Limits Community Services policies and procedures. Reporting to the Service Manager and Service Coordinator, the purpose of the Senior Support Worker role is to provide assistance and support with the day-to-day operations and running of our facilities and services, and ensuring that they are compliant and are maintained at a high quality standard. This will involve the supervision, support, and coaching of lower level Disability Support Workers.

Though your role entails the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of a Disability Support Worker (see Disability Support Work below), it also involves some addition responsibilities and duties that are of a more senior nature (see Senior Support below).

You will be responsible for the following:

Disability Support Work

  • Assisting in developing and implementing client-specific programs to help individuals build strong social skills and encourage independence where possible
  • Providing support in community-based settings, group homes, respite, and participant’s homes
  • Providing support based on a person-centred approach, supporting inclusion and participation
  • Providing support in the area of personal care
  • Working effectively both in a team and 1:1
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of participant support plans
  • Complying with all recording requirements, including but not limited to: Recording medication administration, completing incident reports, completing participant progress notes, updating participant care plans and accounting for cash expenditure
  • Attending and participating in scheduled supervision meetings with Service Manager or Operations Manager
  • Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Adhering to all No Limits Community Services policies and procedures and NDIS guidelines and regulations

Senior Support

  • Provide Supervision, Coaching, and Support to other Disability Support Workers
  • Ensure a high quality and standard of service is maintained throughout all of our facilities and services
  • Facilitate the Induction, Orientation and mentoring of newly appointed Disability Support Workers
  • Participate in the on-call roster rotation to support staff outside of normal working hours
  • Assist with the facilitation of training programs for Disability Support Workers
  • Assist management with rostering and scheduling of Support Workers throughout the region
  • Contribute to staff team planning and coordination
  • Assist Service Coordinators and Managers with day-to-day administration
  • Identify areas of improvement regarding participant needs, processes, and house matters.
  • Conduct audits of houses, services, and facilities to ensure quality and compliance
  • Monitor the performance and quality of our services
  • Coordinate and negotiate with family members, health services, activity providers, and other community services to help meet daily participant needs and/or to plan support for future participant requirements.
  • Model best practice and support colleagues and, where applicable, community-based direct support staff to understand policies and practice standards in managing complex participants
  • Obtain a recognised experience and knowledge in the field of disability with high level competencies in areas of complex behaviour management or high/complex medical needs.
  • Knowledge of complex conditions that impact on disability and the capacity to remain up to date with related developments.
  • Identify risks to participants, colleagues, community, and self and intervene to minimise risks that might compromise health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Prepare performance reports for Service Coordinators and Managers
  • All other duties as directed by Management.

Eligibility

To be eligible to accept this role you will have provided the following:

  • Current Police Check (Within 6 months)
  • International Police Check (Where applicable)
  • Evidence of Working with Children’s check (Must be current)
  • Completed Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme consent form
  • Evidence of a current Driver’s License (International, Northern Territory or Victoria whichever is applicable)
  • Signed and witnessed Statutory Declaration Form
  • Evidence of relevant Qualifications
  • Evidence of your right to work in Australia (Visa, unless you are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Current First Aid Certificate - Level 2
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
