North Melbourne Language & Learning Inc. (NMLL) works with a diverse and dynamic community on the North Melbourne public housing estate and surrounding neighbourhoods, delivering learning opportunities and community development programs for adult learners from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with an emphasis on building stronger communities.

NMLL are recruiting for a range of volunteers roles currently, please refer to other Ethical Job advertisements or the NMLL website directly for more information. We are seeking enthusiastic and open-minded volunteers to work with the Community Development team to support the planning and delivery of a range of CD activities such as meetings, excursions, workshops and community consultations, yearly cultural festival and other intercultural exchange activities. Tasks will include:

  • Supporting the CD team to plan and deliver NMLL yearly Cultural Festival, Events, and Programs, consultations and community meetings.
  • Coordinating presenters, stall holders / suppliers participating at NMLL's yearly Cultural Festival.
  • Set-up and pack down for NMLL Festivals, Events and Programs.
  • Supporting other CD activities such as community meetings, community consultations, community information sessions and intercultural exchange workshops and training sessions.
  • Prepare a range of marketing and promotion materials that will be distributed to NMLL networks and local community members as well as engaging media outlets and implementing social marketing strategies.
  • Desirable skills includes grant writing and research skills to seek funding opportunities that support the ongoing development of Community Development programs at NMLL.

Event / Program Support volunteers will commit to volunteer for 4-6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months or to support at least 2 events per semester. Longer term volunteer availability will be looked-upon favourably.

Volunteers will be available to commence mid - late January, 2020.
