Nillumbik Community Health Service Pty Ltd, operating healthAbility (and previously, also as Carrington Health), is recognised as an industry leader in the delivery of innovative primary health care services. We have a demonstrated record of working with communities to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the local population. We offer wide ranging, locally delivered community healthcare services in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with major hubs in Box Hill and Eltham.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist willing to step into an innovative, new mental health service. This opportunity is a Part Time role (0.6 - 0.8 EFT)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Wellways have partnered with Carrington Health, to deliver this service and has a focus on providing flexible support when and where people need it. The program has a whole of person approach that integrates mental health with physical health.

  • Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for consumers
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice and theory
  • Act as a resource and provide occupational therapy expertise to other staff, demonstrating a strong current theoretical knowledge and evidence base for occupational therapy practice in mental health.
  • Adherence to discipline specific practice standards and codes of ethics
  • Promote and facilitate engagement of occupations that promote recovery with participants that are aligned to recovery goals
  • Attend relevant clinical meetings and forums
  • Preparation of reports as required
  • Contribute to new project - establishing, promoting and maintaining.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent with AHPRA registration required.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering OT assessments and intervention to consumers with mental health concerns through sound practice decisions and deliver therapeutic interventions in a community setting is desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current evidence-based practice in mental health
  • Relevant service delivery particularly in a recovery-oriented community mental health setting.
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act (2014) and other relevant legislation
