Our services operate across Victoria.

About the Job

You will establish and sustain Aboriginal tenancies by supporting tenants to address issues placing their housing at risk, with focus on families with dependent children.

Based on an outreach approach, you will work with tenants to strengthen their capacity to better manage those factors that may impact on their ability to maintain a successful tenancy.

  • Identify and address underlying issues which contribute to the risk of tenancy breakdown
  • Achieve outcomes that lead to successful, sustainable public and social housing tenancies
  • Reduce preventable exits from public housing
  • Prevent homelessness
  • To support clients who are at risk or experiencing homelessness

About the Details

  • Full-time permanent contract (subject to funding)
  • NFP Salary Packaging Benefits up to $15,900
  • Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, Crisis Accommodation Employee Level 1

About You

  • Advanced practical knowledge the ‘Residential Tenancies Act'
  • Knowledge of Social Housing policies & procedures
  • Minimum requirement of Diploma of Community Services or other relevant or appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or experience appropriate to the field
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and/or culture and commitment to the Aboriginal community
  • A demonstrated understanding of the issues associated with Homelessness and their effects on the Aboriginal Community
  • Able to develop positive relationships with clients and work within a stressful environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication and self-management skills
  • An ongoing commitment to relevant professional development
