Blue Knot Foundation (BKF) is the National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma, empowering recovery and building resilience for adults impacted by complex trauma.
With funding from the Department of Social Services, BKF operate the National Counselling and Referral Service for people affected by the Disability Royal Commission and for people with disability with experiences of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation. This is a unique opportunity to play a part in significant social change.
The service operates seven days a week and provides counselling, support and referral services to people with disability, family members, carers, advocates and service providers.
This position offers team-based trauma-informed, person-centred, disability and culturally aware counselling, support, information and referrals to callers from around Australia via telephone, online chat, email and VC.
The work involves understanding and responding to callers’ needs with an ability to connect with people with a range of disabilities, ages and backgrounds. You will deliver information on a range of issues and provide warm referrals and links to on-going supports. Additionally you will:
You have a background providing counselling to survivors of complex trauma and/or violence, people with disabilities, and/or in mental health. You are flexible, can work in a team-based approach to best meet callers’ needs while working collaboratively to meet funding performance indicators. Additionally you have:
