The Organisation

Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) is a not for profit, specialist community legal centre providing free legal and social support services to women in the areas of family law, domestic violence, child protection, financial abuse and some areas of sexual assault. The service is committed to the creation of a society in which every woman is safe from violence, heard and respected, and receives a fair and just outcome from legal and social welfare systems.

WLSQ’s fundraising team plays a key role in supporting, funding and extending WLSQ programs by delivering highly successful signature events, and through grants, trusts, donations, community fundraisers, financial and in kind corporate partnerships.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting to the CEO. You will manage the organisation’s fundraising and partnerships activities and deliver high profile events including the Dancing CEOs gala, River to Rooftop, the Designer Rummage and the Legal Profession Breakfast.

Specifically you will:

  • Lead and mentor a small and highly committed team to grow fundraising income
  • Plan, and deliver with a profit, signature large and complex galas and events
  • Develop and manage partner and supporter relationships, including community fundraisers
  • Identify and write philanthropic grants
  • Implement fundraising, marketing, communications and social media strategies
  • Manage internal events including the AGM, Parliamentary visits and project launches

Skills Required

You’re a self-driven relationship fundraising professional with a track record successfully delivering high profile, gala and community events to grow fundraising revenue. You bring a highly professional and relationship-centred approach, ability to engage with a range of audiences within community, corporate and government sectors, and an eye for detail and accuracy.

You can also demonstrate:

  • Experience leading teams to success, with an inspirational and collaborative style
  • Highly developed and hands-on event management skills
  • Excellent written skills including achievements in grant applications and funding submissions
  • High-level interpersonal skills and ability to develop and nurture personalised relationships
  • Familiarity with online fundraising and ticketing platforms
  • Ability to represent WLSQ with commitment to the organisation’s mission and values
