The Organisation

Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) is a children’s services organisation that has been providing high quality and inclusive early learning and care for children, families and communities for 25 years. With over 60 kindergartens and childcare centres ECMS influences the lives of 6,500 children across Victoria each week. Every ECMS kindergarten and childcare centre is designed to reflect the needs of its local community and families, ensuring that children thrive in life.

The Role

Reporting into the CFO and a key leadership role in the organisation, you will be accountable for the integrity of ECMS’s financial statements and associated reporting. The role will champion a continuous improvement agenda within Finance and play an important part in the broader organisational transformation.

Specifically, you will –

  • Lead the financial accounting team with clarity, direction and coaching
  • Oversee the month-end, year-end close and associated reporting
  • Review finance operations and processes advising on productivity and cost saving initiatives
  • Oversee cash flow management; including the preparation of cash flow projection models
  • Manage the internal control environment to ensure the integrity of the financial statements
  • Work with the Business Analysis Manager and key stakeholders to prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis and commercial insights to share with key stakeholders.

This role is instrumental in an ambitious change agenda that will enable teams to achieve greater impact through improved systems, processes and cultural change.

Skills Required

You are a proven and strategic finance manager, with advanced financial accounting and reporting skills. You bring a commercial mindset and a progressive style of people leadership with the ability to implement strategy, mentor and inspire team achievement.

To be successful in this role you will have -

  • A CPA/CA or related accounting discipline qualification
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial and commercial concepts to non-finance staff
  • Influencing skills to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience effecting organisational change and supporting teams to adapt.
