The Organisation

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) is a company limited by guarantee providing humanitarian aid and development assistance both in Australia and overseas through Australian Rotarians and Rotary Clubs. RAWCS provides a project management structure and accounting support to a broad range of activities through web based support systems. RAWCS’ turnover last financial year was in excess of $30m across more than 500 projects in Australia and developing countries.

RAWCS seeks to appoint a CEO to build organisational capability and capacity, improve engagement, oversee governance and management practices, and support ambitious growth targets.

The Role

Working closely with, and reporting to, the Board, you will join RAWCS at a pivotal time of growth and change. You will be responsible for refining and implementing the strategic and financial plan and realising RAWCS’ growth targets.

Specifically you will:

  • Drive financial growth by engaging with recipients, corporates, philanthropists, donors and governments, and building income streams to enable projects.
  • Lead a small team of paid staff and a nationwide volunteer network.
  • Build RAWCS’ reputation by engaging and managing external stakeholders.
  • Advise the Board on operations and financial management and growth strategies.
  • Oversee finance and operations including reporting, budgeting, compliance, accounting and insurance risk and management.
  • Provide technical expertise to project managers and increase engagement with Rotarians.

Skills Required

You are an experienced CEO or general manager, ideally with an accounting or similar qualification and a proven track record in delivering financial targets, income generation and or fundraising.

To succeed in this role you will additionally offer:

  • Finance and operations management experience gained in a non-profit, or similar organisation.
  • Proven abilities to drive growth and establish profitable revenue streams through fundraising activities corporate, government, philanthropic and private donors.
  • Strong networking and engagement experience with key stakeholders and regulatory authorities including ASIC, ACNC, ATO and DFAT.
  • Tertiary qualifications and membership of a recognised accounting body or similar.
  • An AICD qualification will be highly regarded.
