The Organisation

Parkville Institute (Institute) has been established to replicate an evidence based early learning model enabling children living with significant family stress and social disadvantage to enter school as confident and successful learners, who are developmentally and educationally equal to their peers. The Institute has funding for initial replication across four centres supporting up to 192 children over the next four years.

As a start-up not for profit/social enterprise their vision is to ensure children experiencing adversity will enjoy the same life trajectories as their peers in terms of health, mental health, education, and social and economic participation in society.

The Role

Reporting to the board, your visionary and inspiring leadership will enable the Institute to achieve its goals by initiating, implementing, overseeing, evaluating and advocating for the replication and scaling up of the Early Years Education Program model.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overall governance, operational and financial management
  • Leading and building a small, high performing skilled, professional and supported team
  • Developing and executing the business plan
  • Stakeholder management and collaboration; contributing to the broader early years sector
  • Representing the Institute at meetings including with government, media and in forums
  • Effectively promoting evidence based data to support the goals of the Institute and its future growth
  • Developing and delivering ongoing revenue/fundraising streams.

Skills Required

To excel in this role you will be a strong and decisive hands on executive leader with experience within the not for profit sector. You will have highly developed strategic planning skills and a proven track record developing organisations from start-up phase or pioneering new programs.

Additionally you will offer:

  • Demonstrated success in actioning business plans and implementing innovative solutions
  • Experience delivering sound financial management and operational excellence
  • An entrepreneurial approach that has delivered valued outcomes for similar organisations
  • Persuasive, influential and energetic leadership skills and the ability to manage complexity
  • Expertise managing high level stakeholders and achieving community engagement
  • Adaptive communication skills and effective advocacy and representation experience
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and inner confidence; an aptitude for continuous learning.
