The Organisation

Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is a non-government, not-for-profit specialist domestic and family violence service that seeks to reduce violence and abuse in relationships. DVCS provides crisis and long-term support services to help break the domestic and family violence cycle. DVCS is here to support people, both during and after crisis situations as well as support programs for those who use violence, with aim of bringing about change.

The Role

Reporting to the board, you will join at a pivotal time of consolidation and growth. Your visionary and inspiring leadership will cement DVCS’s reputation as the leading domestic violence non-profit in the ACT.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overall governance, operational and financial management.
  • Leading a high performing skilled, professional and supported team.
  • Developing and executing the strategic plan.
  • External stakeholder management and collaboration.
  • Contributing to the broader domestic and family violence sector.
  • Representing DVCS at stakeholder meetings including government, media and forums.
  • Effectively promoting DVCS the organisation in the wider community.
  • Developing and delivering ongoing revenue/fundraising streams that support future growth.

Skills Required

To excel in this role you will be a strong and decisive executive leader, from a domestic violence background, or similar sector organisation. You will have highly developed strategic planning skills and a proven track record developing high-performing teams.

Additionally you will offer:

  • Demonstrated success in achieving strategic plans and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Experience delivering sound financial management and operational excellence.
  • An entrepreneurial approach that has delivered valued outcomes for similar organisations.
  • Persuasive, influential and energetic leadership skills and the ability to manage complexity.
  • Expertise managing high level stakeholders and achieving community engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills and effective advocacy and representation experience.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and inner confidence; an aptitude for continuous learning.
