The Organisation

Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd (ACSL) works with the Catholic Church in Australia to support and foster the highest standards of safety and care throughout the Church. ACSL provides a range of services to support the implementation of the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards, a framework for the protection and care of adults at risk and children.

The members of ACSL include the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Catholic Religious Australia and the Association of Ministerial Public Juridic Persons. Only recently established the ACSL brings together the work of both the Catholic Professional Standards Ltd (CPSL) and the Australian Catholic Centre for Professional Standards (ACCPS).

ACSL’s core organisational values of courage, compassion and honesty will guide the way the organisation builds a community of practice to ensure the Catholic Church is a safe and nurturing environment for children and adults.

ACSL staff work remotely in several States with its current office located in Melbourne CBD.

The Role

In this role your primary purpose will be the development, delivery and promotion of the objectives of ACSL, including the added short to medium term challenge and opportunity of providing leadership during the consolidation and development of new directions and business structure.

The CEO plays a key educational role in the promotion of the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards and the broader work of ACSL, working with stakeholders including Church authorities and entities, professional standards and safeguarding bodies in Australia and internationally. The CEO, alongside the Chair of the Board, is the primary spokesperson for the organisation.

Skills Required

You’re currently operating at a senior level in a similar leadership role across advocacy, core business operations and ideally safeguarding. Via your already successful career leading like-minded institutions, you’re able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the organisational culture required to successfully meet the requirements of this role.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following areas of ability;

  • A high level of comfort working to an engaged membership and board, and the ability to develop meaningful relationship across multiple stakeholders
  • Development of risk based review criteria and design of policy frameworks
  • Strategic development of the service and administrative functions within a focused mission directed enterprise
  • Operational and staff management through assessing and prioritising needs, developing solutions and methodically implementing them.
