The Organisation

YMCA Victoria (the Y) is a part of a global network that has served the Victorian community since 1853 by empowering young people and building community connections. With over 8,000 staff and volunteers, the Y delivers services at more than 150 locations every day in settings including camps, community recreation and sporting facilities, swimming pools, before and after school care, early learning centres and youth services.

The Role

In addition to the key governance areas of fiduciary responsibilities, community accountability and movement development, this voluntary position provides board guidance to elevate YMCA Victoria’s market presence though brand-building activities and communications to deliver impact at scale.

Providing oversight of marketing and stakeholder engagement strategies and marketing leadership, the Board Director will leverage networks in traditional media, social networking and digital forums to optimise the YMCA brand in Victoria.

Skills Required

You will be an experienced marketing leader ideally with board, governance or committee experience, who has increased big brand awareness through marketing, PR and communications activities in the commercial sector.

You have expertise in engaging supporters and successfully enhancing high value organisational brands. You have a passion for developing young people and you share the Y’s vision to empower them through your work.

Term: Three-year term, option of standing for re-election (maximum nine-year tenure)

Your commitment: Monthly meetings, weekly currently, 8-12 hours per month
