Meaning ‘to dance’ in Wadawurrung, Ngarrimili was established to nurture and support business and entrepreneurship opportunities amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We work with businesses, artists and creatives through tailored, culturally informed support.

We aim to drive enduring and sustainable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander economic development and by doing so, we acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been successful in economic development for over 80,000 years, from trading, agricultural practices, ceremony and many other actions contributing to prosperity.

We offer group workshops and 1:1 support for aspiring and established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and creatives across Australia. We tailor our support to meet the needs of businesses and founders wherever they are in their business journey. We believe founder wellbeing, through a lens of culture and connection, is vital to business success.

About the role:

(This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified underSection 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. This employment opportunity is only available to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people)

The Support Coordinator will provide support coordination to Ngarrimili clients to support strong business and wellbeing outcomes. They will work alongside staff and external contractors to ensure coordinated and streamlined support to Ngarrimili clients as well as the day to day running of the organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Client Management:

  • Intake and assessment of new business founders presenting to the organisation
  • Coordination of supports to business founders including: developing intake plans and providing general advice around business establishment
  • Providing business founders with referral pathways to social, emotional, health and wellbeing supports
  • Liaison with Ngarrimil contractors to coordinate support to business founders
  • Providing administrative support and skills development to business founders where required.

Administrative & Event Support:

  • Work alongside the team to support Ngarrimili’s digital marketing platforms including social media, newsletter and website.
  • Contribute to the organisations reporting requirements including data collection, developing case studies and other documentation as required.
  • Event and workshop coordination including facilitation
  • Perform administrative tasks as directed by senior staff to support the day to day operations of the organisation.

Key Selection Criteria

  • You are experienced in providing 1:1 support to First Nations community seeking a service, with a focus on wellbeing support and case coordination
  • You have experience in project management or program delivery
  • You have an understanding of (or have the capacity to learn) what is needed to start a business
  • You work professionally with key external stakeholders and are happy to be a face of the organisation when needed
  • You are a warm and empathic communicator who uses a strengths-based approach to working alongside First Nations communities
  • You can ensure all work is delivered through a lens of culture and trauma informed practice.
  • You are confident in using a variety of digital platforms including social media
  • You work collaboratively and enjoy being a part of a values aligned team
