The Position

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Family Support Officer, based in Carnarvon.

Aboriginality is a requirement for this position.

This is a part time role, working 70 hours per fortnight, with the contract ceasing 31/12/2021.

The role is to support families, parents, carers and children so that school aged children attend school every day.

Under the guidance and direction of a Family Mentor and the Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) Team Leader, the Family Support Officer will work with the RSAS team, other Ngala programs, schools, government agencies, and other service providers to improve school attendance.

Additional requirements of the role include:

  • Participating in home visits and other activities with the Family Mentor to build relationships and engage with families
  • Providing practical support to work alongside families
  • Talking with community members and participating in community events and activities to promote the importance of daily attendance at school

We are looking for someone who has experience working with the community and who is passionate about helping children and their families.
