Let's talk about us

Nexus Primary Health supports people to fully participate within their community through the provision of appropriate wide-ranging support services throughout their life span. With a 40 year history, we are the "go-to" organisation for primary health information and person-centred services in the outer and rural north of Melbourne.

We are currently looking for Child & Youth Workers available on a casual basis. We are specifically looking to service clients in the Bendigo area.

Let's talk about the role

Here is an opportunity to channel your positive approach and strength to young members of the community who are working through some of their biggest challenges.

The Child and Youth Worker provides delivery of services to children and young people on Targeted Care Packages (TCPs) for Nexus Primary Health. TCPs are an allocation of funding tailored specifically to meet the individual needs of a particular child or young person who are in a foster care placement or returning to kinship care, who are exiting residential care, or at risk of entering residential care. The packages aim to strengthen and support home-based placements using a therapeutic approach and the provision of a range of individualised supports.

The Child and Youth worker will provide direct contact and support to the child or young person as allocated by the Key Worker. Typical duties include providing respite care and supporting clients to be engaged with the things they want to do. The work hours will generally be spread out across the week (including weekends). No two days will be the same.

Let's talk about you

Using a trauma-informed / person-centred approach with an empowerment philosophy, you will support clients and their carers to achieve their identified social, physical and personal goals through a range of activities.

You have the ability to form a strong rapport with a diverse range of young people and, at times, to manage challenging behaviours.

You'll draw upon your tertiary qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Youth Work or Social Sciences and experience working with young vulnerable clients.

You will have your own vehicle and full drivers licence for transporting clients between school, home and community activities. Vehicle allowances will apply.
