About the role

We are currently seeking enthusiastic Support Workers to work with a range of NDIS customers in the Brisbane North Region. No two days are the same as each customer has their own unique needs. This primarily mobile role means you won’t be stuck in an office all day, instead you will be out visiting customers, assisting them in their daily living activities and participating in the community.

As a Support Worker you will also:

  • Provide a range of psychosocial rehabilitation and supports to participants
  • Provide life skills coaching to consumers
  • Participate in program facilitation, as required
  • Undertake Case Management
  • Provide backup/leave coverage of support work as required.

What you need to bring to the role:

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you are a true people person with the ability to interact and engage with people from diverse backgrounds. We are looking for people who are reliable and accountable for their actions. You will have a positive attitude and be willing to go the extra mile to ensure customers achieve their goals.

As this is a mobile role you will need to be comfortable working unsupervised, taking responsibility and acting in a calm caring manner no matter the situation. While managers and team leaders will be available to provide support and coaching along the way, your independence and confidence in day to day decision making will be important. Ideally you will be currently studying or have completed a Social Welfare qualification and have some exposure to working with customers with mental health issues.

You will also:

  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Be able to adhere to principles and values
  • Be able to plan, organise and solve complex problems
  • Be adaptable to change and ambiguous situations
  • Hold a current police check (within the last 6 months)
  • Current Working with Children Check – required before commencement of work - Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption or Blue & Yellow Cards (employee responsibility)
  • Hold a current Australian driver’s licence and have a roadworthy vehicle insured to a minimum level covering third party property damage (comprehensive cover is recommended)
