  • Based at the Far West Recovery Centre (FWRC), Broken Hill

About the Role

The Far West Recovery Centre (FWRC) is a 10 bed mental health sub-acute facility that provides an option for people who are becoming unwell or are still recovering from an acute illness and need a short period of additional support and consolidation to complement their treatment and support. The FWRC aims to prevent avoidable inpatient admissions. During their stay consumers are assisted to develop a relapse prevention or wellness plan. The FWRC is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The Service Manager is responsible for the ongoing management and further development of the program. The Service Manager will work collaboratively with partners to improve and develop the overall service response to people living with a mental illness within our community. The Manager will also undertake a key role in service development, including ongoing evaluation and review of service outcomes. With assistance from the Senior Practice Leader (SPL) the manager will provide supervision and coaching to Community Rehabilitation and Support Workers (CRSWs) and Peer Support Workers (PSWs).

  • Extensive experience in partnership development
  • Experience leading a team in a complex environment
  • Experience in managing financials and budgets
  • Ability to motivate, engage and lead diverse teams
  • Takes initiative, acts with confidence, and works well under own direction
  • Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the recovery model
  • Experience and/or knowledge of living and working in rural and remote locations
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in culturally respectful ways

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
