  • CSD Level 5 from 92k – 96k p.a (pro rata) + super + salary packaging + employee benefits!
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2022, with a possibility of extension
  • Based at Boronia; could include travel to Northern/Eastern Region either at Thomastown, Glen Waverley or Fairfield

About the Service

The Eastern Psychosocial Support Service (EPSS) provides one-to-one coaching and group activities that support recovery for people with severe mental health issues. Support can focus on receiving practical help with daily living, looking after your health, finding a home, gaining employment as well as improving your connections with family, friends, and the community.

Preventative Health Initiative (PHI) provides individualised and tailored support to help people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues improve their physical health. The service also delivers capacity building activities to develop practitioners’ capacity to respond to the physical health needs of people experiencing mental health issues.

About the position

The Service Manager provides service delivery leadership and program management of the Psychosocial Support Service (PSS) and the Preventative Health Initiative (PHI) as funded by the Eastern Metro Primary Health Network (EMPHN). This position provides guidance and expertise to ensure the service contributes to the increase of the participant’s capacity and independence; engages appropriate services is efficient and responsive and achieves key performance indicators and the service is of a high quality.  

The role of the Service Manager is to supervise the PSS and PHI teams. This includes oversight of teams including Senior Practice Leaders, Clinical Leads, Peer Support Workers, Support Workers, Nurses, Health Promotion Practitioners and Operations Support. There will be a requirement to ensure streamlined and effective delivery of supports across the region by engaging and fostering relationships with other

Core duties

  • Initiate, lead and coordinate strategic partnerships within the community, local government, community housing, and health and welfare providers
  • Undertake projects that contribute to the overall development of the organisation as decided by State Manager, National Leadership Team or the CEO.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, selection onboarding, practice development (supervision), training and skill development of service staff
  • Mediate and negotiate with staff in areas of conflict and industrial dispute in collaboration with the Regional Manager, State Manager and People, Capability and Culture
  • Manage the Service budget including monitoring progress against financial targets and ensuring priorities are established and met

What will you bring to the role?

  • Extensive Knowledge of mental health programs in the region
  • Experience leading a team in a complex environment
  • Experience in managing financials and budgets
  • Ability to form relationships with external organisations
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of mental health and drug and alcohol issues in the Region
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work with individuals from diverse and unique backgrounds
