About the Role

  • Part Time (0.5FTE-0.9FTE) and Casual positions available, Based on Individual Contract
  • Hours to be negotiated with successful candidate
  • Maximum Term contract until 30 June 2024 subject to continued Government funding

The Urgent Mental Health Care Centre (UMHCC) Senior Medical Practitioner is an exciting role responsible for providing person centred care services to guests (consumers) accessing the Urgent Mental Health Care Centre. The UMHCC is based on our formal partner, RI International’s (RII) “Crisis Now” movement and their international leading lived experience, high engagement, multi-disciplinary crisis model offering an alternative to Emergency Department presentations.

The Senior Medical Practitioner works competently within their scope of practice to deliver evidence based and person-centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes.

UMHCC is moving to a 24/7 Rotating Roster therefore your hours of work will be in accordance with a 7 day per week rotating roster which may include a variety of shifts ranging from morning, afternoon, evening, active overnight and recalls depending on service operational requirements.

What will you bring to the role

  • Provide clinical services, consultancy and advice within a defined scope of practice
  • Ensure clinical decisions in relation to UMHCC consumers are clearly communicated to referring parties and all members of the treating team

Mandatory requirements:

  • Registration as the Australian Health Practitioners Authority as a Medical Officer with a current annual practicing Certificate
  • Fellowship or membership of the appropriate College or Association within Australia as recognised by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration or has had not less than five years experience since obtaining registration
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate required prior to contract offer
  • Experience in practicing medicine, this may include rotations undertaken as a medical student
  • Current SA Working with Children Check and Vulnerable Person check
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Adhere to UMHCC immunisation policy
