The Project Officer – Suicide Prevention Western NSW will have an understanding of project management and stakeholder engagement, excellent written and verbal skills and knowledge of the mental health and/or community sector services, as well as the ability to apply change management processes and work with complexity, and to deadlines.

The Project Officer – Suicide Prevention Western NSW will work closely with the Service Manager Western NSW and the other Suicide Prevention Workers to co-ordinate the rollout of service mapping and community surveys aimed at identifying gaps and opportunities for improved Suicide Prevention efforts and service provision.

You will need:

  • The ability to work independently with a self-motivating attitude
  • Be creative and innovative
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Experience in facilitating group programs to diverse groups including both face to face and online methods
  • Be eager to look for opportunities to link with schools, front line workers, health care organisations and other relevant stakeholders to provide health promotion activities
  • Participate in Collaborative Partnerships and Steering Group meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Plan activities/projects in advance and takes account of possible changing circumstances
  • Lead and support continuous improvement through new ideas and change initiatives
  • Promote and plan relevant health promotion activities for key calendar dates relating to suicide prevention
  • Identify opportunities to support other local service providers to promote key health promotion activities

Desirable

  • A background in working within the field of suicide prevention or similar
  • A lived experience or an understanding of the value of lived experience in suicide prevention programs
  • Experience in delivering relevant group sessions or gate keeper training programs including Mental Health First Aid, Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid or similar Gate Keeper programs or a willingness to learn
