About the Role

  • 2 x Part Time Roles
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2021
  • Location: Ipswich
  • Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm (with some after hours and weekend work as required)

The Peer Wellbeing Coaches will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering a range of integrated stepped care mental health services from Neami’s new Living and Learning Centre at Ipswich. The Living and Learning Centre will operate within Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset Local Government Areas and will be open Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with some after hours or weekend programming capacity in response to identified need. The Centre has been funded by the Darling Downs/West Morton PHN as part of their Stepped Care suite of strategies.

The Centre Team will be made up of Peer Wellbeing Coaches and Mental Health Clinicians. The Peer Wellbeing Coaches will deliver wellbeing coaching and psychosocial support for consumers with severe and complex mental illness.

Core duties

  • Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
  • Working with community partners Support consumers to maintain long term accommodation
  • Provide direct practical support to consumers so that they gain/maintain independent living skills. This includes linking in with relevant support services including NDIS, Mental Health, DV support, employment and other relevant services
  • Together with the consumer, regularly monitor their progress towards their identified goals
  • Work within a holistic framework, taking into account the needs of consumers, family, carers and other members of the community in order to ensure tangible rehabilitation outcomes

What will you bring to the role?

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or experience as a carer for someone who has experienced mental health recovery
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current Blue Card
  • Australian Working Rights
  • A current drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
