  • CSD Level 2 from $64,363 – 69,031 per annum depending on skills & experience
  • Based at Richmond

Peer Support Workers are integral members of the team and draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery. You must have a lived experience of your own mental illness/suicidal crisis/caring role, and a rich understanding of the processes of recovery and be willing to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery.

About the Service:

Head to Health pop-up clinics are designed to support Australians in lockdown. The clinics will offer COVID-safe face-to-face services, as well as video and phone supported mental health and assessment services, ensuring people can access the services on site or from their own homes if they’re unable to travel. The clinics will have multidisciplinary mental health teams providing accessible, affordable mental health services and support in the community.

We are seeking people to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery, utilising their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, mental health crisis, suicidal crisis or caring for someone living with a mental illness or experiencing a suicidal crisis.

What are we looking for?

  • Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery
  • A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery
  • Experience of the public or private mental health system
  • Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff and organisations
  • A Mental Health (or equivalent Human Services, Community Services) qualification of Certificate IV level or above, or complete such a qualification within 2 years
  • You must have an appropriate length of time in recovery to be able to effectively and safely conduct the PSW role, and a willingness to continue to engage in recovery supports where appropriate

Mandatory requirements

  • A Mental Health (or equivalent Human Services, Community Services) qualification of Certificate IV level or above, or complete such a qualification within 2 years
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Police check
  • Computer literacy
  • Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (or have received one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their second dose.)
  • Candidates will be required to provide appropriate evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to Neami National.
