About the Role

• Full Time, Permanent Position
• Health Professional and Support Services Award Level 2 or Nurses Award Level 2 (Attractive Above Award salary and NFP Salary Packaging)
• Location: Walk In Clinic and Suicide Prevention Service, Links to Wellbeing, Morphett Vale SA.

The Walk in After Hours Service aims to improve mental health outcomes and mental health care experiences for people presenting with low acuity mental health symptoms and/or associated difficulties and their carers/families that requires more than telephone contact but may not require hospital presentation for assessment.

The links to Wellbeing Suicide Prevention program supports clients who are at moderate risk of suicide or self harm. Clients can be referred by GPs or Emergency Departments, following a presentation for self-harm or an expression of suicidal ideation, where they are not judged to be at high risk, for time limited support.

The Mental Health Clinician will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver focused mental health clinical services for individuals with mental health disorders in a primary care setting.

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for:

• Undertaking comprehensive clinical mental health assessments
• Providing brief solution focused therapy and counselling sessions
• Undertaking immediacy planning, referral, service linkages, appointment arrangement and follow-up, including for consumers presenting with prodromal symptoms, early warning signs of serious mental illness
• Providing education and information
• Triage and assessment of all referrals entering the Links to Wellbeing Service indicating moderate risk to self
• Delivery of focussed psychological strategies and/or referral on to other clinicians in Links to Wellbeing stepped care programs
• Liaison with the referrer and other agencies and supports as appropriate and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Qualified in one of the following disciplines and membership to associated professional body; Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing.
• Social Workers – Registered member of the AASW and have AASW accreditation.

• Drivers licence
• Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
• At all times maintain annual registration requirements with appropriate registration authority (AASW, AHPRA) including registration standards and continuing professional development (CPD).
