About The Role

  • Part-Time Permanent Position
  • Health Professionals and Support Services Level 2 (HPSS Level 2) or Nurse Award Level 2 (dependent on skills and experience)
  • Location: Links to Wellbeing, Morphett Vale and Edwardstown

The Links to Wellbeing Primary Mental Health programs support clients presenting with mild to moderate anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma. The programs include brief therapy intervention for up to 6 sessions to moderate term therapy 10-12 sessions. The programs operate across a stepped care model.

The Links to Wellbeing (LTWB) consortium is a group of mental health and community service providers, consisting of: Neami National, Mind Australia and Skylight.

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

The Mental Health Clinician is accountable to the Clinical Lead/Clinical Services Manager for the provision of culturally appropriate mental health therapy services to Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities within Southern Adelaide. The clinician will also provide mental health therapy services to the diverse individuals and communities living in the Links to Wellbeing regions as required. The role will also include building relationships with and working with relevant community organisations and other Aboriginal clinician’s and workers.

Core Duties

  • Undertaking comprehensive clinical mental health assessments
  • Providing brief solution focused therapy and counselling support
  • Undertaking immediacy and safety planning, referral, service linkages, appointment arrangement and follow-up, including for consumers presenting with prodromal symptoms to those presenting with early warning signs of serious mental illness
  • Providing education and information
  • Provide support to and collaborate with Lived Experience staff for improved client outcomes
  • Provide input and advice to LtW mental Health (PMHC) services as required

Mandatory Requirements

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Mental Health Nursing
  • Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (or have received one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their second dose.) Candidates will be required to provide appropriate evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to Neami National.
