About the Role

  • Full Time, Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2021
  • Based in Neami Campbelltown's Macarthur Accommodation and Access Program
  • CSD Level 2 from $63,670 - $68,264 per annum (pro rata) dependent on skills and experience

The Macarthur Accommodation and Access Program (MAAP) is a time limited, focussed intervention aimed at assisting people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to access stable and sustainable housing and support arrangements. Neami’s MAAP works closely with correctional facilities, local mental health services, Aboriginal Services, Social and Community Housing services, other NGO’s and health practitioners in the Macarthur area.

The crisis service within MAAP offers six beds for single men who are homeless and a 2 bedroom unit for couples without children. There is also transitional style accommodation for single men and couples without children. These services are designed to provide a period of additional support and aimed at supporting people to exit homelessness to safe and sustainable accommodation. As a Community Support Worker, you will work under an assertive outreach model aimed at providing integrated services that focus on transitioning from homelessness or risk of homelessness to safe, secure and sustainable long term accommodation, prevention of re-offending and improved health outcomes.

Core duties

  • Provide direct support and rehabilitation
  • Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
  • Work closely with clinical case managers to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to consumers
  • Working with community partners
  • Collect, collate and maintain data on consumer contact
  • Maintain records and resources

What will you bring to the role?

  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experience and working knowledge of homelessness
  • Previous experience in working with complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues
  • Previous experience working with people exiting correctional facilities desirable
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Knowledge of the recovery model

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
