About the role

  • Full Time, Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2024
  • CSD Level 2 from $64,363 - $69,031 per annum (pro rata) + super + salary packaging
  • 7 day rotating roster (hours between 6.00am and 8.00pm)
  • Based in Alexandria

Way2Home works in partnership with health services, general practitioners and other community services to address the needs of people with complex health needs and long histories of sleeping rough. Regular foot patrols are conducted to identify homeless people most in need. The assertive outreach model is aimed at providing integrated services that focus on consumer identified goals, improved health outcomes and transition from homelessness to safe, secure and sustainable long-term accommodation. We persist and work with people over the medium to long term supporting people to maintain their tenancies once they are in housing.

Core duties

  • Street outreach, engaging with people sleeping rough, to help them into safe housing
  • Develop trusting and professional relationships
  • Assist people to engage in their community whilst supporting them to develop living skills
  • Work with people’s individual strengths, identify goals and support them to work towards their goals
  • Working with community services and programs to support people to exit homelessness and maintain their tenancy and connect to their community
  • Participate fully as a team member, working within best practice and Workplace Health and Safety policy

What will you bring to the role?

  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of homelessness
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Knowledge of the recovery model

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (disclosable outcomes considered)
